Ed Laverty Legacy Donation Ceremony

A Legacy in Motion

The Laverty Hall family were truly honoured to present the first official cheque from the Ed Laverty Legacy Sports Fund to the Hunt Club Riverside Community Centre a $2,000 donation toward new sports equipment and the launch of a youth touch football program at the centre.

There’s no better way to honour Ed’s legacy than helping youth feel included, confident and empowered through sport; that’s what he loved most.

This moment meant even more because the Riverside Community Centre Association and our dear friend Councillor Riley Brockington helped make something unforgettable possible for our family: the official naming of the Ed Laverty Fields in 2018, commemorated with a monument and plaque.

Since 2018, through our annual Skills & Drills event, and the support of our incredible sponsors and volunteers, we’ve continued raising funds to build community through sport just like Ed did running the Ottawa Nepean Touch Football League for 5 decades.

He never did it for recognition… but we know he’d be smiling ear to ear today knowing a donation in his memory is paying his legacy forward by helping youth feel empowered through sport.

Thank you again to the Riverside team we can’t wait to see this program come to life together. 🙏🏽🏈✨
